Considering a gap year? Add this list to the reasons you should go for it!

We’re gonna try not to add to all the noise and tell you what you should and should not be doing during this time of quarantine (accept maybe apply to Denver Gap Year **wink wink, nudge nudge**). But for those of you choosing to use your time to read and wanting to refresh your library, our staff has a few titles here that they either are currently reading or would just generally recommend:⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Nate Evans: Factfulness: Ten Reasons We’re Wrong About the World -- and Why Things are Better Than you Think, by Hans Rosling. If you hang out with him for 10 minutes within the next 2 weeks -- guaranteed he’ll have you take the quiz in the book. ⁣⁣ ⁣ Nathan Dawang: Rob Bell’s first and defining book, Velvet Elvis: Repainting the Christian Faith. Worth the read, worth the questions.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Kevin Odom: The classic Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis (or by Lonely Island if you ask Nate Evans) Kevin also recommends Milk and Honey: a collection of poems by Rupi Kaur⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Alicia Allen: the novel Little Bee, by Chris Cleave -- a story about a Nigerian immigrant and a British magazine editor, an NY Times review called it “an affecting story of human triumph”

What you seek first organizes every other aspect of your life. ⁣ ⁣ “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness” Matthew 6:33⁣ ⁣ We all have something we give our attention, energy, time, focus, -- that's the thing that we seek first, and it orders every other aspect of our life. And when we're struggling, whether that be depression, anger, etc, we often seek first to find relief from that struggle. But when we seek first to find relief from (fill in the blank), (fill in the blank) has then been put in control of our life. ⁣ ⁣ When we seek first the Kingdom, everything else in our lives is organized around and by the power and presence of the Kingdom. This isn't a religious exercise Jesus calls his followers to do, but a powerful and present reality.⁣ ⁣ We want to be a people who walk in lockstep with God's Kingdom, and whose hearts beat to see it come.⁣

We’re still working hard over here in the midst of Covid-19, readying to make your 2020/21 gap year experience the best it can possibly be! (This picture was taken before Covid-19 times, btw 😉)⁣ ⁣ While we won’t give the whole spiel on Insta of how we’re responding, we still wanted to highlight a few important updates:⁣ ⁣ ▪︎WE’RE STILL DOIN’ THIS THING.⁣ ⁣ ▪︎But if you’re not quite sure about the fall yet -- we’re offering spring semester only option in addition to our full year and fall semester only options.⁣ ⁣ ▪︎International trips will be optional, and should you choose to opt out - the cost will be deducted from your tuition.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ We’re praying for you guys every. single. day. We care deeply about your safety and concerns. Reach out to us (dm, facebook, email, phone or video call, etc) and we would love to talk with you about any questions you have.⁣

Things are moving for us in Denver and we continue to press on with launching in the Fall! We have great news for all you future participants! For students who apply for our 8 month, or 4 month option for Denver Gap Year between March 23rd- April 13th, We are offering $2,000 off our 8 month tuition of $12,000 Program dates: August 31st- April 30th AND $1,000 off our 4 month tuition of $6,000 Program dates: August 31st- December 18th HOW TO QUALIFY: -Your application must be SUBMITTED before April 13th -You DO NOT have to be accepted by April 13th to receive the discount. - The discount will be applied to whoever submits during this time period even if you’re accepted LATER in the year. We are excited to receive your application and look forward to meeting you! I want to leave you with the reality of Hope in our midst, by saying this: In these times, it seems anxiety is running wild, and moving into the neighborhood. I want to remind us that we are a people of peace and love. Walk in the healing power of Christ. Give out comfort, joy and hope. Let us press in and remind ourselves that Jesus is King, and he indeed reigns over all. I pray for the deep abundant love of Christ to flow freely in our hearts and families. I want to remind us that peace has already been given, and all we need to do is walk in it. We are fully aware of the circumstances, and do not resort to be ignorant to our present situation .” We stand face to face and we choose love that breaks all chains and reverse the tyranny of death and darkness. We BELIEVE he is GOOD and his goodness comes about through the movement of his body here on earth. We choose to open our eyes and our hearts to the people around us, and give freely what’s been given to us. We’re so thankful for you to be apart of this wild journey with us!
